A Perfect Weekend in Savannah, Georgia: Ghost Tours, Great Food & Widespread Panic

Savannah is truly one of the South’s dreamiest (and spookiest) destinations. With moss-draped oaks, pastel historic homes, and some of the best dining in Georgia, it’s the perfect place for a quick getaway. I recently spent a long weekend exploring the city eating, drinking, ghost-touring, and dancing my heart out at Widespread Panic. I’m sharing every detail so you can plan the perfect Savannah itinerary.

Whether you’re coming for the food scene, the history, or a night out on the river, here’s everything I loved (and what I’d skip next time!).

Where We Stayed in Savannah

Hotel Indigo Savannah Historic District

This was our main hotel for the trip and the location could not be better. You’re steps away from River Street, great restaurants, bars, and the trolleys. Perfect for exploring on foot.

The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa

We ended up adding an extra night because I partied way too hard after the Widespread Panic show (if you know, you know 😂). The Westin is gorgeous with spa vibes, clean rooms, and a peaceful escape across the river.

But… it’s slightly inconvenient if you’re in town for a concert or nightlife unless you love taking the ferry. We stayed because I wanted a mellow recharge night, ordered Mellow Mushroom straight to the room, and fully leaned into the relaxation.

What We Did

👻 Savannah Ghosts & Gravestones Trolley Tour

Savannah is known as one of the most haunted cities in America, so the Ghosts & Gravestones trolley tour is the perfect way to kick off your trip. It’s spooky, informative, theatrical, and honestly such a fun way to learn weird Savannah history at night.

Highly recommend if you love ghost stories, old cemeteries, or want a unique date-night activity.

You can book your tour through Viator or you can show up and book a spot at the check in-desk. Arrive 15 minutes early at least.

🎸 Widespread Panic at Enmarket Arena

This was the highlight of our weekend! Enmarket is super easy to navigate, and Widespread Panic absolutely delivered (as always). The venue is outside the main historic district, so plan transportation ahead especially on a busy weekend like GA/FL.

Pro tip: if you have pit, exit through the floor in the back right and you will walk right out of the venue and skip all the stairs and crazy escalators!

Where We Ate in Savannah

Savannah has an incredible dining scene, and we made sure to hit a good mix of favorites and bucket-list spots.

🥇 The Olde Pink House — My #1 Favorite

This restaurant never misses. It’s romantic, historic, delicious, and an absolute must-do for dinner. From the ambiance to the cocktails to the shrimp & grits… perfection. Make reservations early as this one books fast.

Common Thread — Best Tasting Menu

We did the chef’s tasting menu and loved every course. The flavors were creative but approachable, the cocktails were great, and the vibe feels modern Savannah meets cozy neighborhood gem. One of my new favorites.

🌮 Treylor Park

Unique menu with fun twists (think pecan pie French toast or PB&J wings). It was good, but the service was slow. I’d only revisit if we were in the area and wanted something casual.

🍳 Collins Quarter (Not This Trip but Always a Favorite)

If you’re in Savannah for brunch, put Collins Quarter at the very top of your list. Their lavender mocha and the short rib hash are incredible. We didn’t make it this time, but I’ve always loved it.

Drinks & Nightlife

🍹 Sky House Rooftop — Best River View

Located right on the river, Sky House is perfect for pre-dinner cocktails or a golden-hour moment. Great drinks, chic atmosphere, and panoramic water views.

❤️ The Grove — Best Spot for UGA Fans

If you’re in town during a Georgia game (we were there for GA/FL weekend), The Grove in the Historic District is the spot. Tons of bars inside, a rooftop, and an energetic crowd. It felt like a hidden gem because most tourists don’t know it exists.

🍹 Savannah Smiles

It's not a trip to Savannah if you don't check out Savannah Smiles. I first experienced Savannah Smiles when I worked for IHG and we opened a new hotel in Savannah. I think it was Hotel Indigo?! The marketing team rented our Savannah Smiles and it was SO much fun. Dueling Piano Bar = Always Yes.

Final Thoughts on Savannah

Savannah is one of those cities that blends Southern charm, great food, and good energy into the perfect weekend escape. Whether you’re coming for a concert, a ghost tour, or a romantic getaway, the city delivers every time.

What I’d Repeat:✔ Pink House✔ Common Thread✔ Sky House✔ Ghost Trolley Tour✔ Staying downtown for easier walking

What I’d Skip Next Time:✘ Treylor Park (fun but slow)✘ Staying across the river during a concert

This weekend was the perfect mix of spooky, romantic, fun, and delicious exactly why Savannah remains one of my favorite Southern cities.
